Pastry Chef

About the role

Esca Grill is looking for a pastry chef for our fast-paced, farm to table restaurant in the inner northwest suburb of Moonee Ponds. This is a successful family-run European influenced Modern Australian restaurant with an ethos for sustainability and fine food. In this role, you will produce quality desserts so that guests are blown away.

About you

• Proven experience as a pastry chef or in a similar role

• Strong knowledge of baking techniques, pastry preparation, and decoration

• Creativity and attention to detail in dessert design and presentation

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

• Outstanding team leadership skills

• Experience within a fast-paced, upmarket, or fine-dining kitchen

Key responsibilities

• Provide functional assistance in the production team demonstrating superior standards of preparation, production and finishing

• Implement superior standards of preparation and production demonstrating and utilizing your pastry skills, experience and knowledge gained from previous roles and qualifications

• Contribute to the fulfillment of production schedules and targets, ensuring all products are prepared to the Escagrill standard, demonstrating organizational skills and superior attention to detail

• Build and maintain productive working relationships with team members and foster a respectful and productive working environment and culture

• Adopt a 'hands on' approach to work, leading by example and demonstrating initiative and ability to work within a fast-paced environment

• Collaborate with the team to innovate and develop new products and menu offerings

• Demonstrate control in food preparation and managing wastage levels
