The Client
Our client is a small but growing public practice in the Sydney CBD with big plans. They have been growing organically and via acquisition.

They specialise in providing a full range of services to SME clients, including management accounting, financial reporting, tax complaiance and tax planning.

Role Overview
Working closely with Managers and Principals, you will manage a portfolio of clients—ranging from individuals to small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) and complex family groups. You will be responsible for preparing accurate financial reports and tax returns, while also identifying opportunities to provide value-added business advisory services.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Reporting: Prepare interim and end-of-year special purpose financial statements, depreciation schedules, and management reports.
• Tax Compliance: Prepare and lodge Income Tax Returns, Business Activity Statements (BAS), Instalment Activity Statements (IAS), Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), and Capital Gains Tax (CGT) calculations across various entities (companies, trusts, partnerships).
• Business Advisory: Assist in preparing cash flow forecasts, budgets, and business performance analyses.
• Client Management: Liaise directly with clients to resolve queries and collect necessary financial data. Attend client meetings with Principals and Managers.
• Technical Research: Investigate complex taxation issues and legislative changes, providing summary reports for Manager review.

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience: 2 to 4 years of recent experience working in a chartered or public practice accounting firm.
• Education: Relevant tertiary degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Business.
• Professional Qualifications: Currently undertaking or near completion of your CA program.
• Software Skills: Proficiency in modern cloud accounting and practice management software, key experience of desire is Xero with a secondary (not essential) MYOB et al.
