S & S Construction Group is a well-established commercial construction and shopfitting company delivering high-quality projects throughout North Queensland. We pride ourselves on quality workmanship, attention to detail and delivering projects on time. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Factory Foreman / Workshop Supervisor to lead our workshop operations.

(*Please note hourly rate/salary may be negotiated pending qualifications and experience.)

About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our workshop. You will coordinate the production of custom joinery and shopfitting components, supervise workshop staff, and ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.

Working closely with our Nth Qld Branch Manager, Project Managers, Contract Administrator and Site Supervisors, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are manufactured and delivered on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead workshop employees and apprentices.

• Plan and schedule daily workshop production.

• Ensure projects are manufactured to specification and quality standards.

• Coordinate workflow to meet project deadlines.

• Read and interpret construction drawings and joinery plans.

• Allocate labour and resources efficiently.

• Monitor productivity and identify opportunities for improvement.

• Conduct quality control inspections before items leave the workshop.

• Maintain workshop equipment and coordinate servicing when required.

• Ensure compliance with Workplace Health & Safety requirements.

• Manage workshop stock levels and materials.

• Coordinate deliveries and liaise with site teams.

• Mentor apprentices and assist with staff development.

• Foster a positive, organised and accountable workplace culture.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

·       Trade qualification in Cabinetmaking, Joinery or Carpentry.

·       Experience with CNC machinery.

·       Experience, knowledge and ability to manufacture curved joinery.

·       Experience using production scheduling software or the ability to learn quickly.

·       Construction White Card.

·       Previous experience leading a joinery, cabinetmaking or shopfitting workshop.

·       Strong knowledge of commercial joinery and shopfitting.

·       Excellent organisational and planning skills.

·       The ability to read and interpret detailed construction drawings.

·       Strong leadership and communication skills.

·       A proactive approach to problem solving.

·       A commitment to quality workmanship and workplace safety.

·       Current Driver Licence.

·       Forklift Licence or the ability to obtain if successful.
