We are seeking a detail-focused and proactive Inventory Officer to join our Defence Aeronautical Life Support Equipment (ALSE) logistics team, located in Melbourne at Airflite’s Cheltenham Defence Support Centre. Whilst the primary focus of the role will be on purchasing, your day will be varied, with responsibilities including:

· Monitoring and maintaining inventory levels of ALSE within the Defence logistics system
· Collaborating with MRP controllers analysing inventory usage trends and demand forecasts
· Assisting with inventory planning to prevent shortage or overstocking
· Monitoring delivery schedules and following up on outstanding orders
· Supporting collaborative problem-solving to address logistics and supply challenges
About You
To be successful in this role you will be highly organised and detail-oriented with a strong interest in logistics, inventory management and supply chain operations. You will enjoy working with data, systems and solving problems, collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes.
To be successful in attaining this role, you must demonstrate:
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to work effectively with customers, suppliers and internal teams
A high level of accuracy and attention to detail when managing inventory records and data
Well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel at an intermediate level
The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a small dynamic team environment
A commitment to maintaining compliance with Defence and company procedures
Previous experience in inventory control, procurement or supply chain operations will be highly regarded. Experience with Defence logistics systems such as AIMS or SAP S/4HANA is advantageous but not essential, as full training will be provided.
You must be an Australian Citizen, and be eligible to obtain a Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) Security Clearnce.
