About the role
Riverside Girls High School is in scenic Huntley’s Point, on the land of the Wallumettagal people, overlooking the historic Gladesville Bridge, with views spanning the Parramatta River towards Sydney Harbour.
At Riverside, we specialise in educating and empowering our confident, independent, creative young global citizens in a single-sex learning environment that provides freedom and scope for all to thrive. The quality of learning at Riverside is enhanced by the beauty of the natural environment, providing opportunities and inspiration for quality, innovative indoor and outdoor teaching and learning to take place.
There are 630 students at Riverside, with 55% coming from non-English speaking backgrounds. Our staff is committed to ongoing improvement in teaching and learning, with a particular focus on embedding explicit teaching into classroom practice to create a learning culture of high expectations. We also have an academically selective High Potential and Gifted Education Program (the Ignite program) and a rich co-curricula program providing extension opportunities for all students. We have a strong reputation for excellence in academic, sporting, performing arts and leadership pursuits and maintain high standards in developing all students to be confident, independent, creative global citizens. We have strong community connections and will continue to foster engagement with universities and industry to seek authentic, real-world learning opportunities to enhance the learning experiences of all of our students.
General Selection Criteria1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
Demonstrated capacity to strategically lead the TAS faculty, in alignment with the School Excellence Plan, delivering evidence-informed curriculum, teaching and learning and assessment, including best practice in HPGE, to drive student success.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
