About the role
We are a warm, busy family in South Melbourne looking for two experienced and reliable nannies to join our family and share a regular weekly roster caring for our two children, aged 2 and 5.
We have been fortunate to have wonderful, long-term relationships with our nannies and really value having people in our children’s lives who become trusted and familiar members of our family. With one of our current nannies finishing with us in December, we are starting our search now for the right people to join us longer term.
While the permanent roster will commence from December 2026, there is plenty of opportunity to start sooner. One of our nannies will be taking periods of leave during September and October, and we also regularly require additional help for evenings, weekends and other casual shifts. This means there will be opportunities over the coming months to work with our family, get to know the children and see whether we are a good fit for each other before moving into a regular long-term arrangement.
The regular roster from December
We are looking to cover a combination of morning and afternoon shifts across Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. These shifts can be shared between two nannies depending on availability.
Mornings | approximately 7:00am–9:00am
Helping the children get ready for the day, breakfast and school/daycare drop-offs, either walking or driving as required.
Afternoons | approximately 3:30pm–7:00pm
School/daycare pick-ups, play or activities, dinner, baths and helping with the evening routine.
Thursdays | flexible
There is the opportunity for a longer/full-day shift (approximately 7:00am–6:30pm), or for the day to be divided into morning and afternoon shifts depending on availability.
There are also regular opportunities for additional casual hours, particularly evenings and weekends, and potentially opportunities to travel with our family from time to time.
You do not need to be available for every shift. We are specifically looking for two people to share the roster, so we are very happy to hear from candidates who can commit to particular days or shifts consistently.
The person we’re looking for
Our priority is finding people who are genuinely interested in building a relationship with our children and becoming a trusted part of our family’s life over time.
We are looking for someone who is:
* Experienced and confident caring for toddlers and young children
* Warm, patient and genuinely engaged with children
* Calm and emotionally attuned, particularly around big feelings, boundaries and age-appropriate challenging behaviour
* Reliable and punctual
* Independent and able to take initiative without needing constant direction
* Organised, clean and respectful of our home
* Comfortable managing school/daycare drop-offs and pick-ups
* Flexible where possible, while also communicating clearly about their own availability
* Interested in a stable, long-term role with a family
A driver’s licence and confidence driving children would be highly regarded.
We place a lot of value on mutual respect, communication and reliability. We have been very lucky to have long-standing relationships with our nannies and want the people who work with us to feel valued and well looked after. In return, we are looking for the same level of care, reliability and respect for our family.
Location
South Melbourne, VIC
Starting
Casual opportunities available immediately, including additional shifts during September and October.
Regular long-term roster commencing December 2026.
This provides a great opportunity to get to know each other gradually before committing to the ongoing arrangement.
If this sounds like a good fit, we’d love to hear a little about you, your nannying/childcare experience, your current availability and which days and/or shifts you would ideally like to take on.
