Audio Visual Technician

The Information Technology Unit (ITU) is seeking an Audio Visual Technician to join the Cloud & Infrastructure team. This is an exciting opportunity for a customer-focused AV professional to support and enhance the audio-visual technologies that enable teaching, learning, research and events across the University. Working across a diverse range of learning spaces, meeting rooms and event environments, you will play a key role in ensuring reliable AV services, delivering exceptional user support and contributing to the continuous improvement of technology solutions across campus.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate the installation, operation, maintenance and support of AV technology across teaching, meeting and event spaces.
• Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support, troubleshooting and resolving AV, video conferencing and room technology issues.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and training to staff, students and stakeholders using AV technologies.
• Support hybrid meeting environments, digital signage platforms and video conferencing solutions.
• Manage AV assets, equipment inventories and maintenance schedules to ensure reliable service delivery.
• Liaise with vendors, technology partners and internal stakeholders to support service delivery and issue resolution.
• Monitor AV system performance and contribute to documentation, reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
• At HEW 6, provide advanced technical support, mentor team members and assist with the coordination of service requests and operational activities.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

• Demonstrated experience supporting, maintaining and troubleshooting audio-visual technologies in a customer-focused environment.
• Strong technical knowledge of AV systems, including audio, video, control systems, video conferencing and hybrid meeting technologies.
• Experience supporting users with varying levels of technical capability and delivering high-quality customer service.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build productive relationships across a diverse organisation.
• Experience managing assets, equipment inventories and maintenance activities using relevant systems and tools.
• An understanding of IT security principles and their application within a technology environment.
• Relevant qualifications or an equivalent combination of experience, training and technical expertise.

Experience supporting enterprise AV environments within a large and complex organisation will be highly regarded.
