We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Supervisor Community Centre Events to lead the strategic activation of our auditoriums and event spaces across the Community Centres network.

We are seeking an experienced Supervisor Community Centre Events to lead the strategic activation of our auditoriums and event spaces across the Community Centres network. This is a hands-on leadership role where you will lead from the front, working alongside your team to manage event administration, logistics and delivery, while also setting the strategic direction for growth and engagement.

You will oversee the creation and delivery of growth strategies for events, guiding a small team that builds and nurtures customer relationships, activates our largest venues, and ensures every event is safe, compliant, and memorable.

Working as part of the service’s leadership group, you will also contribute to long-term planning and provide data-driven insights to inform future strategic direction.

About the role

As the Supervisor Community Centre Events you will:

• Set the strategic direction for event activation and engagement across the City’s auditoriums and major community event spaces.
• Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team responsible for bringing community events to life at Broadbeach Cultural Centre, Robina Auditorium, Nerang Bicentennial Community Centre and Helensvale Cultural Centre.
• Build strong relationships with customers, event organisers and partners to grow the number and diversity of events across the network.
• Oversee internal and external communications to ensure smooth event planning, exceptional customer service and consistent operational standards.
• Contribute to a culture centred on safety, wellbeing and high performance.
• Develop and refine operational policies, guidelines and procedures to support safe, compliant and efficient event operations.
• Provide expert advice on complex matters relating to event management, facility use, community expectations and compliance requirements.
• Manage external suppliers, including audio-visual technicians, ensuring service standards are met.
• Contribute to future service priorities through data analysis, reporting and insights.
• Balance hands-on operational support with strategic planning, including forecasting resource needs across peak and off-peak seasons.
• Represent the City at key customer and networking events, occasionally outside standard business hours.

About you

You will be a confident leader with a passion for creating vibrant, accessible and safe community spaces.

You bring:

• Extensive events experience in large-scale commercial venues, such as convention centres, arts and performing arts centres and hotel conference centres.
• Demonstrated experience leading and managing a high performing team.
• A collaborative leadership style with the ability to build capability, drive continuous improvement and motivate a team.
• Demonstrated venue management expertise, including customer engagement, event lifecycle management and operational oversight.
• Strong knowledge of WHS, food safety, fire safety, social customs and a solid understanding of audio-visual terminology.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
• High attention to detail, strong time management capability and pride in delivering exceptional outcomes for customers and community.

The following experience and knowledge will be highly regarded:

• Local government experience.
• Experience working in an arts centre or theatre hosting complex musical or theatrical productions.
• Experience managing weddings and other large-scale events.
