Packing and Dispatch Supervisor

Azalea Grove Nursery is a wholesale plant production nursery based at Redland Bay, Queensland, supplying a specialised range of plants to the wholesale, retail and landscape industries as well as government bodies and councils in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria. Azalea Grove Nursery has an outstanding reputation within the Nursery Industry, being a supplier of choice for over 60 years. Through our networks we produce and supply the highest quality plant stock in order to support our clients to meet or exceed their customers’ expectations.

Due to a long period of exceptional growth, we are investing in our future operations and are now seeking to expand the capacity of our packing and dispatch teams. An opportunity exists for an experienced hands-on Supervisor to join this team in a senior role where you will be responsible for all aspects of our packing and dispatch functions.

The Role

Reporting to the Sales Manager, this is a rare opportunity for a motivated person to step into a key role within our organisation. You will be coordinating a team of up to 25 people in a fast paced environment where adherance to time lines, quality control and WH&S standards is critical to the effective performance of your team. This role demands a hands-on approach to supervision where your ability to motivate your team to achieve KPI’s is critical to our success.

Your responsibilities may be varied and will include:

• Supervision of all staff in the picking, packing and dispatch (P&D) teams,

• Ensure the P&D team completes all tasks to meet or exceed KPI’s,

• Reconcile all dispatch inventory with pick lists to ensure stock is dispatched correctly and on time to meet strict transport schedules,

• Work with area supervisors to ensure all pick, pack and dispatch functions meet Quality Assurance standards,

• Collaborate with other key teams in our business such as production, propagation and maintenance, to ensure business goals are met,

• Actively drive a system of continuous improvement in all processes, and

• Supervise the training and development of all members of the P&D team as required.

Who Are We Looking For?

The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate the following key attributes: 

• Demonstrated experience in a similar supervisory role in either the logistics, warehousing, production, FMCG or horticulture industries for a period of at least 12 months,

• Be a strong and effective communicator who can motivate their team,

• Be physically fit as this role can be physical in nature,

• Be a highly motivated self-starter who is capable of working unsupervised,

• Must have a strong attention to detail,

• Have highly developed problem solving skills and be able to effectively multitask,

• Highly motivated, committed, team focused and reliable, and

• Must have own transport.

Experience in the horticulture industry would be preferred but is not an essential criteria.
