G&E Automotive Services is looking for a Tyre Fitter / Wheel Alignment Technician to join our growing workshop in Koo Wee Rup.

Ideally, we'd love to find someone who already has solid tyre-fitting and wheel-alignment experience and can confidently take ownership of this area of our workshop.

But experience isn't everything.

If you're mechanically minded, have a genuine interest in cars and want to learn, we're prepared to train the right person.

You might already be fitting tyres but haven't been given the opportunity to properly learn wheel alignments. You may have some workshop or automotive experience and be looking for your next step. Or you may simply be someone with strong mechanical aptitude, a good work ethic and the right attitude who wants an opportunity to build a career in the automotive industry.

We're an independent automotive workshop based in Koo Wee Rup, providing mechanical repairs, servicing, diagnostics, tyres and wheel alignments to our local community.

What You'll Be Doing

Depending on your current experience, you'll either take responsibility for these tasks from the outset or be trained progressively to perform them confidently and independently.

Your role will include:

• Fitting and removing passenger, SUV, 4WD and light-commercial tyres
• Wheel balancing and tyre rotations
• Puncture inspections and tyre repairs
• Inspecting tyres for wear, damage and safety concerns
• Correctly setting tyre pressures
• Correct wheel-nut tightening and torque procedures
• Performing accurate wheel alignments
• Learning to understand and correctly adjust toe, camber and caster
• Recognising abnormal tyre-wear patterns
• Identifying steering and suspension problems that affect wheel alignment
• Recognising when an alignment problem cannot simply be "adjusted out"
• Reporting damaged, bent or worn components to the workshop team
• Carrying out final quality-control checks
• Looking after customers' vehicles while they're in your care
• Maintaining tyre-fitting, balancing and wheel-alignment equipment
• Keeping your work area clean, organised and safe
• Supporting the rest of the workshop when required

For someone developing into the position, we don't expect you to know all of this on day one.

We do expect you to want to learn it.

Who We're Looking For

There are two ways you could be the right person for this job.

You're already experienced

You may already be an experienced tyre fitter and wheel aligner who:

• Can confidently fit and balance tyres
• Can independently perform accurate wheel alignments
• Understands toe, camber and caster
• Can diagnose abnormal tyre wear
• Can recognise steering and suspension faults affecting alignment
• Works efficiently without sacrificing quality
• Can take ownership of the tyre and alignment side of the workshop

If that's you, your experience will be recognised and your pay will reflect your capability.

ORYou've got the right attitude and want to learn

Maybe you're not there yet.

You might:

• Have some tyre-fitting experience but limited wheel-alignment experience
• Have worked in an automotive or mechanical environment
• Be mechanically minded and comfortable working with tools
• Have a genuine interest in cars
• Be looking for an opportunity to develop proper automotive skills
• Want to learn from experienced people rather than just being given repetitive jobs

For the right person, we're willing to invest the time in training you.

We can teach you our equipment, tyre-fitting procedures, balancing, wheel-alignment fundamentals, tyre-wear diagnosis and how steering and suspension condition affects alignment.

What we need from you is the attitude to make that investment worthwhile.

You'll be supported and assessed across areas including:

Tyres fitted correctly, correct pressures, correct wheel torque and appropriate final checks.

Wheel Alignment Accuracy
Alignments performed correctly, with underlying mechanical problems identified rather than simply trying to make numbers appear green on the screen.

Productivity
Working efficiently, managing your jobs and helping keep the workshop moving.

Comebacks & Rework
Taking the time to get the job right the first time and learning from problems when they occur.

Vehicle, Equipment & Workshop Care
Looking after customers' vehicles, maintaining our equipment and keeping your work area clean, organised and professional.

For someone we're training, expectations will grow alongside your skills. We don't expect an inexperienced person to perform at the level of an experienced technician immediately.

The goal is to give you a clear pathway to get there.

Pay & Progression$28–$40 per hour + super

Depending on experience and demonstrated capability.

An experienced tyre fitter and wheel-alignment technician capable of independently taking ownership of the role would sit toward the upper end of the range.

Someone joining us with less experience would start at a rate appropriate to their current skills and responsibilities.

As your capability develops, so does your opportunity to progress.

We don't want someone spending years doing the same basic tasks because nobody has taken the time to teach them anything else.
