About the role
Experienced or ready to step up — we'll train the right person
G&E Automotive Services | Koo Wee Rup, VIC
Full-Time | Monday–Friday
$28–$40 per hour + super, depending on experience and capability
Looking for a role where you can actually become good at what you do?
G&E Automotive Services is looking for a Tyre Fitter / Wheel Alignment Technician to join our growing workshop in Koo Wee Rup.
Ideally, we'd love to find someone who already has solid tyre-fitting and wheel-alignment experience and can confidently take ownership of this area of our workshop.
But experience isn't everything.
If you're mechanically minded, have a genuine interest in cars and want to learn, we're prepared to train the right person.
You might already be fitting tyres but haven't been given the opportunity to properly learn wheel alignments. You may have some workshop or automotive experience and be looking for your next step. Or you may simply be someone with strong mechanical aptitude, a good work ethic and the right attitude who wants an opportunity to build a career in the automotive industry.
If that's you, we'd still like to hear from you.
We can teach technical skills.
What we're really looking for is someone who is reliable, takes pride in their work, wants to improve and takes responsibility for what they do.
About G&E Automotive Services
We're an independent automotive workshop based in Koo Wee Rup, providing mechanical repairs, servicing, diagnostics, tyres and wheel alignments to our local community.
We're building a workshop with strong systems, clear expectations and a team of people who take genuine ownership of their roles.
Our Purpose
Car care without second-guessing, for years to come.
Our Mission
To run a fully systemised workshop, averaging seven vehicle services per day and earning the trust of our local customers by 2028.
The way we get there matters.
Our Values
#urgency — Urgency
Our customers rely on their vehicles. We keep work moving and don't leave things for someone else to deal with.
#peoplefirst — Friendliness
We treat our customers and each other with respect. Being good at your job doesn't mean being difficult to work with.
#allhands — Helpfulness
If something needs doing, we help. Job titles don't stop us from supporting each other.
#ownit — Ownership
Take responsibility for your work. If you make a mistake, speak up, fix it and learn from it.
#nevergiveup — Determination
Not every problem is straightforward. We work through problems rather than giving up when something gets difficult.
#qualityfirst — Precision & Integrity
Do it properly. Safety, accuracy and integrity come before simply getting another vehicle out the door.
What You'll Be Doing
Depending on your current experience, you'll either take responsibility for these tasks from the outset or be trained progressively to perform them confidently and independently.
Your role will include:
For someone developing into the position, we don't expect you to know all of this on day one.
We do expect you to want to learn it.
Who We're Looking For
There are two ways you could be the right person for this job.
You're already experienced
You may already be an experienced tyre fitter and wheel aligner who:
If that's you, your experience will be recognised and your pay will reflect your capability.
ORYou've got the right attitude and want to learn
Maybe you're not there yet.
You might:
For the right person, we're willing to invest the time in training you.
We can teach you our equipment, tyre-fitting procedures, balancing, wheel-alignment fundamentals, tyre-wear diagnosis and how steering and suspension condition affects alignment.
What we need from you is the attitude to make that investment worthwhile.
The Things We Can't Teach
Qualifications and experience are valuable, but they're not the only things we're hiring for.
We want someone who:
If you've got those qualities, we'd rather talk to you than dismiss you because you don't tick every technical box.
What Good Performance Looks Like
We believe employees should know what's expected of them.
We don't measure this position purely on how many tyres you can fit in a day.
You'll be supported and assessed across areas including:
Quality & Safety
Tyres fitted correctly, correct pressures, correct wheel torque and appropriate final checks.
Wheel Alignment Accuracy
Alignments performed correctly, with underlying mechanical problems identified rather than simply trying to make numbers appear green on the screen.
Productivity
Working efficiently, managing your jobs and helping keep the workshop moving.
Comebacks & Rework
Taking the time to get the job right the first time and learning from problems when they occur.
Vehicle, Equipment & Workshop Care
Looking after customers' vehicles, maintaining our equipment and keeping your work area clean, organised and professional.
For someone we're training, expectations will grow alongside your skills. We don't expect an inexperienced person to perform at the level of an experienced technician immediately.
The goal is to give you a clear pathway to get there.
Pay & Progression$28–$40 per hour + super
Depending on experience and demonstrated capability.
An experienced tyre fitter and wheel-alignment technician capable of independently taking ownership of the role would sit toward the upper end of the range.
Someone joining us with less experience would start at a rate appropriate to their current skills and responsibilities.
As your capability develops, so does your opportunity to progress.
We don't want someone spending years doing the same basic tasks because nobody has taken the time to teach them anything else.
If you're willing to learn, demonstrate competency and take on more responsibility, we want your position to develop with you.
What We Offer
Sound Like You?
Don't rule yourself out because you don't meet every requirement.
If you're already an experienced tyre fitter and wheel aligner, we'd like to talk to you.
If you've got some experience but need someone to give you the opportunity to develop your wheel-alignment skills, we'd like to talk to you too.
And if you're mechanically minded, reliable, willing to work and genuinely want to learn, tell us why you think you'd be a good fit.
We're more interested in finding the right person than simply filling the position quickly.
