About the role
Lead high value electrical engineering and manufacturing projects for major mining, infrastructure and industrial customers across Australia.
About Phoenix EMS
Phoenix EMS is an Australian electrical engineering and manufacturing business delivering switchboards, control panels, lighting solutions, VBIs, switchrooms and engineered electrical solutions across the mining, resources, energy, utilities and industrial sectors. With operations in Newcastle and Perth, we combine local engineering and manufacturing capability with a strong focus on quality and customer service to support customers nationally.
The opportunity
Based at our Cardiff head office, you will take ownership of projects from handover through engineering, procurement, manufacture, testing, delivery and close-out. You will be the central link between customers, engineering, supply chain and production, ensuring scope, programme, cost, quality and commercial outcomes remain under control.
This is a hands on role for a commercially aware Project Manager who is comfortable working close to the workshop, resolving issues early and providing customers and leadership with clear, reliable information.
What you will do
Deliver electrical manufacturing projects safely, on time, within scope and to budget
Develop and maintain project programmes, milestones, deliverables and recovery plans
Coordinate engineering, procurement, production, testing, logistics and site interfaces
Manage customer communication, progress reporting, approvals, technical queries and project meetings
Monitor project financial performance, including budgets, forecasts, variations, cost to complete and margin
Identify risks, constraints and schedule impacts early and drive practical mitigation actions
Ensure drawings, work packs, quality documentation and project records are complete and accurate
Manage contractual obligations, scope changes, claims and commercial negotiations as required
Build strong relationships with Tier 1 customers, suppliers and delivery partners
Lead project reviews and close-out activities, capturing lessons that improve future delivery.
What you will bring
At least five years of project management experience in electrical manufacturing, mining, resources, power, infrastructure or a related industrial environment
An electrical trade, engineering or other relevant technical qualification
Demonstrated experience delivering electrical control systems, switchboards, MCCs, panels, kiosks or similar engineered equipment
Strong planning and scheduling capability, including Microsoft Project or comparable tools and critical-path principles
Sound commercial acumen across budgets, forecasting, variations, contracts and project margin
The ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence priorities and hold actions to account
Clear written and verbal communication, strong attention to detail and a practical approach to problem solving
A strong commitment to safety, quality and respectful work practices.
Why join Phoenix EMS?
A visible role with genuine ownership of nationally significant projects
Direct access to decision-makers and the ability to influence how projects are delivered
A growing business investing in stronger systems, capability and operational discipline
A practical, team-based environment where engineering and manufacturing sit side by side.
Apply
If you are ready to take ownership, bring structure to complex delivery and build trusted customer relationships, we would like to hear from you. Please submit your resume and a short cover letter outlining your relevant project experience.
Phoenix EMS is committed to a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace. Applicants must have the right to work in Australia.
