Lead Secondary Engineer

Overview

Are you ready to shape the future of energy infrastructure? Our client are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Secondary Engineer to join their Transmission & Distribution team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in designing and delivering innovative, sustainable, and carbon-neutral solutions for substation projects. Your expertise will drive the successful planning, design, and execution of substation infrastructure, ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

As a Lead Secondary Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:

• Designing and delivering advanced Substation Secondary systems for distribution and transmission networks (up to 500kV).
• Ensuring strict adherence to quality assurance procedures and technical standards.
• Leading and managing engineering projects within defined scopes, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
• Collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, structural, and primary electrical engineers.
• Contributing to proposal development, including scope definition and cost estimation.
• Engaging with regional clients, providing expert technical advice, and supporting business growth.
• Mentoring and developing junior engineers to enhance team capabilities.

Qualifications

Our client are seeking a candidate who brings a wealth of experience and a passion for innovation. To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (required).
• Proven experience in High Voltage Secondary Substation design and project delivery (experience with Transgrid projects is highly desirable).
• A strong track record of serving as a trusted technical advisor to clients.
• Demonstrated capability in managing and providing technical leadership to design teams, including Global Delivery Centres.
• Experience in managing design projects in compliance with quality management systems.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Day-to-Day

Your typical day will involve:

• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to design and deliver high-quality substation solutions.
• Leading project meetings and ensuring alignment with client expectations and project timelines.
• Reviewing and approving technical designs to ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
• Providing mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
• Engaging with clients to provide technical expertise and support business development initiatives.
• Monitoring project progress and addressing any challenges to ensure successful delivery.
