Local Crowd Café – Riverlea Park
Salary: $67,000 – $72,000 + Superannuation
Local Crowd Café is looking for an experienced Senior Chef to join our new Riverlea Park location.
We are looking for a passionate, experienced chef with a strong background in the breakfast, brunch and lunch café scene, who is confident leading a kitchen team and taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of a busy café kitchen.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing South Australian café business and play an important role in establishing our new Riverlea kitchen.
About the RoleAs our Senior Chef, you will be the day-to-day leader of the Riverlea kitchen, responsible for managing service, leading the kitchen team and ensuring food quality and kitchen standards are consistently maintained.
You will be a hands-on chef who is comfortable taking charge during busy service periods, while working closely with our Executive Chef and owners/management team.
You will have the support of an experienced Executive Chef and management team behind you. While you will have responsibility for the daily operation of the kitchen, you will not be expected to manage the kitchen in isolation. Our Executive Chef and owners will provide guidance, support and oversight across menu development, kitchen standards, staffing, food costs and overall operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage the kitchen team during breakfast, brunch and lunch service
Take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Riverlea kitchen
Prepare and produce high-quality café food consistently
Maintain excellent food presentation and portion control
Assist with menu development and seasonal specials alongside the Executive Chef
Train, mentor and develop kitchen staff
Manage daily preparation and ensure the kitchen is ready for service
Maintain food safety, hygiene and WHS standards
Monitor food quality, wastage and portion control
Assist with ordering and stock management
Work with the Executive Chef and management to maintain food and labour cost targets
Ensure the kitchen remains clean, organised and efficient
Lead by example and contribute to a positive team culture
Communicate effectively with the Executive Chef and owners regarding kitchen operations and staffing
We are looking for someone who:
Has proven experience as a Senior Chef, Sous Chef or similar role
Has strong experience in the breakfast, brunch and lunch café environment
Is confident running a busy kitchen during peak service
Is comfortable leading and managing a kitchen team
Has excellent knowledge of food preparation, presentation and café kitchen operations
Understands food costs, wastage, portion control and kitchen efficiency
Has strong communication and organisational skills
Takes pride in producing consistently high-quality food
Is reliable, professional and has a strong work ethic
Is looking to become an important part of a growing business
Holds a current Food Safety Supervisor certificate, or is willing to obtain one
$67,000 – $72,000 + Superannuation, depending on experience
