The Role

The EL 1 Base Manager will manage daily operations and service delivery on Defence bases in Tasmania. Our roles require a mix of strong collaboration skills, strategic planning, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to maintaining standards and building relationships across all levels.

An EL 1 Base Manager will have considerable stakeholder engagement and a high representational role. They will identify relevant stakeholder’s expectations and concerns to develop a clear understanding of the methodology and practices to achieve service delivery or other base support outcomes consistently and in alignment with agreed outcomes.

Our Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a dynamic individual with a proven track record of excellence to join our team:

• Accountable for managing and leading a team, including providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing performance, delegating responsibility and guiding and developing people.
• Engage and negotiate with stakeholders on complex to very complex issues to influence and achieve business outcomes.
• Work collaboratively, build and sustain effective relationships, motivate and provide constructive feedback to the team and work area.
• Operating effectively in high-tempo and dynamic environments, and managing competing priorities. 
• Highly developed communication, organisation and negotiation skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop and tailor high quality written products. Digital skills and the ability to review and present information of service delivery outcomes via digital platforms highly desirable.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and liaison skills, including experience working collaboratively across large and dispersed teams.

Security Clearance

Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting Level 1”.
