• $97,297.20 - $122,824.00 salary range (pro-rata for part time) + salary packaging + super + 5 weeks annual leave

About The Clinical Genetics Service

The Clinical Genetics Service provides genetic counselling, genetic and genomic testing to individuals with, or at risk of, genetic conditions who are referred to The Women’s and the Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s (Joan Kirner) Hospitals. This includes individuals in the northwest and western regions of Victoria.

About the role

The position provides genetic counselling to patients of the Clinical Genetics Service primarily at the Parkville site, with flexibility to provide cover to the Joan Kirner site as needed. The role contributes to the overall performance of the Clinical Genetics Service’s team and the quality and safety of care to those referred to the service.

A regular day will see you:

• Provide high-quality genetic counselling services to patients referred to the Clinical Genetics Service (face-to-face or telehealth) including assessment, planning, facilitation of testing, monitoring and follow up.
• Prompt assessment and triage of newly referred patients within expected key performance indicators set for the team/role.
• Ensure that adequate, accurate and timely information and records are maintained in the Women’s electronic medical record (EMR).
• Provide high-quality clinical supervision to under- and post-graduate students on placement with the Clinical Genetics Service in line with our current model

About you

You will be an experienced Genetic Counsellor with at least 5 years experience in a clinical genetics service. Previous experience in the reproductive genetics area is preferred but not essential.

You’ll bring with you:

• Current registration with the HGSA
• Excellent written and verbal communication skill
• Broad knowledge and understanding of genetic counselling, including medical, genetic and psychosocial aspects
• Confidence and ability to work as a sole practitioner or as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Previous experience in a supervisor role with trainees
