About the Region
The South Burnett Region is ideally situated just 2 - 3 hours' drive to Brisbane, Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast and Fraser Coast. The region is home to the stunning Bunya Mountains, where you can enjoy spectacular rainforest walks, nights by the fire in hidden chalets and the best scenic views Queensland has to offer. The South Burnett region is renowned for its great wine, gourmet foods and recreational facilities such as Lake Boondooma and Yallakool tourist parks.
About the role

Permanent - Full Time
$83K - $89K per annum + Allowances + Super
Council is seeking an officer to provide professional plumbing and drainage assistance and support to our Plumbing team. This cadetship provides a structured development pathway, combining practical on-the-job experience, mentoring and training to prepare you for a future career as a Plumbing Inspector. This position will assist with the management of plumbing enquiries, inspections, assessment processes and solutions to support the delivery of quality service. Prepare and interpret plans relating to sewerage and water supply, review and approve domestic, industrial, commercial and rural plumbing, water and drainage plumbing plans. The successful applicant will have sound knowledge and understanding of relevant plumbing legislation, standards and regulations. Ability to manage time effectively and to solve problems to achieve required outcomes within required timeframes.
Mandatory Qualifications
Queensland Plumbers Occupational Licence.
Minimum requirement of a current C Class driver’s licence.
Demonstrated previous experience in all facets of plumbing.
General Safety Induction (White Card)
Desirable Qualifications
Other qualifications and training relating to Plumbing (i.e. Certificate IV Plumbing and Services, On-site sewerage maintenance or design, backflow devices, TMV’s).

Skills and experience

The ability to learn and conduct inspections and investigations on a community level and produce effective outcomes within the parameters of relevant legislation, Local Laws, and Council policies.
Demonstrated knowledge of legislation, regulations and standards relating to plumbing/ drainage.
Demonstrated ability to operate a computer and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Well-developed oral and written communication skills with the ability to work and communicate effectively with a range of customers and stakeholders, including plumbers/ builders, developers, property owners, Council Officers and members of the public.
Ability to use sound technical judgement whilst carrying out all tasks as well as demonstrated skills to establish work priorities and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Workplace Health and Safety and EEO principles and practices.
