Automotive Mechanic / 4WD Accessory Fitter

Pilbara Motor Group / Perth Motor Bodies is a well-established automotive business in Western Australia, specialising in Bus4x4 conversions, purpose-built vehicle modifications and commercial and mine-spec vehicle fit-outs.

Based in Welshpool, our team builds specialised 4x4 vehicles including Toyota HiAce Commuters, HiAce Vans and Toyota Coasters, along with a wide range of light commercial and mine-spec vehicle fit-outs.

About the role

We are looking for an Automotive Mechanic / 4WD Accessory Fitter to join our Bus4x4 conversion and vehicle fit-out team in Welshpool. This is a full-time, hands-on workshop role focused on installing purpose-designed Bus4x4 conversion kits and completing specialised vehicle fit-outs. Our Bus4x4 kits are supplied with pre-assembled components and comprehensive installation guides from start to finish. This is not an engine rebuild or heavy overhaul role – we're looking for someone with good mechanical ability, practical fitting skills, attention to detail and a willingness to learn. You'll also work on light commercial and mine-spec fit-outs including bullbars, towbars, long-range fuel tanks, suspension upgrades, underbody protection and other vehicle accessories.

What you'll be doing

• Installing Bus4x4 conversion kits to Toyota HiAce Commuters, HiAce Vans and Toyota Coasters

• Following detailed installation guides and build specifications

• Removing and installing mechanical components as part of the 4x4 conversion

• Fitting transfer cases, differentials, CV shafts, tail shafts, suspension components, brackets and associated 4WD components

• Carrying out mechanical fitting, assembly, adjustment and final setup

• Completing light commercial, 4WD and mine-spec vehicle fit-outs

• Fitting bullbars, towbars, long-range fuel tanks, suspension upgrades, underbody protection and other accessories

• Measuring, drilling, cutting and accurately fitting components

• Identifying and resolving minor mechanical or fitment issues

• Completing quality and safety checks to ensure a high standard of workmanship

• Working alongside mechanics, fitters and auto electricians to complete each vehicle

What we're looking for

We'd like to hear from Automotive / Light Vehicle Mechanics, Mechanical Fitters, 4WD / Vehicle Accessory Fitters, Diesel Mechanics or other experienced automotive tradespeople with good hands-on mechanical skills.

Ideally, you'll have:

• A relevant automotive/mechanical trade qualification or suitable hands-on experience

• Good mechanical knowledge and practical fitting ability

• Confidence using hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment

• Ability to follow installation instructions and technical information

• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Pride in producing high-quality workmanship

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Current driver's licence

• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety

Previous Bus4x4 conversion experience is not required. Full installation guides, product knowledge and support will be provided.
