About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager, the Structural Steel Detailer / Draftsman is responsible for producing accurate and detailed shop drawings, assembly drawings, and 2D and 3D models for structural steel fabrication projects using Autodesk Advance Steel. The role works closely with engineers, project managers, fabricators, builders, and site personnel to resolve design queries, coordinate project requirements, and ensure drawings and fabrication information are delivered accurately and within agreed timeframes.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Prepare detailed structural steel fabrication drawings using Autodesk Advance Steel.

• Produce General Arrangement (GA), shop, assembly, and installation drawings.

• Create accurate 2D drawings and 3D structural steel models.

• Generate NC files, DXF files, bolt lists, material lists, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for fabrication.

• Review structural, architectural, and engineering drawings to identify discrepancies, clashes, or missing information.

• Coordinate with engineers, architects, builders, project managers, fabricators, and site personnel to clarify project requirements.

• Prepare and submit Requests for Information (RFIs) and resolve design and detailing queries.

• Revise drawings in accordance with engineer, client, and project team comments.

• Ensure drawings comply with project specifications, engineering requirements, and relevant fabrication standards.

• Provide accurate fabrication information to support efficient manufacturing and site installation.

• Ensure all drawings are completed within agreed timeframes while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Qualifications & Skills

• Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Engineering, Drafting, Structural Detailing, or a related discipline.

• Minimum two years’ experience in structural steel detailing or drafting.

• Demonstrated proficiency in Autodesk Advance Steel.

• Experience with Tekla Structures is highly regarded.

• Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication, connections, and erection methods.

• Ability to interpret structural, engineering, architectural, and fabrication drawings.

• Experience producing General Arrangement, shop, assembly, and installation drawings.

• Knowledge of NC files, DXF files, bolt lists, material lists, and Bills of Materials.

• Strong organisational and time-management skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a project team.
