About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Analyst AML, Regulatory Compliance to join our Administration team in our Sydney office to support the continued rollout and operational stabilisation of our Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Program. This full-time, 6-month maximum-term contract presents a unique opportunity to take on a hands-on and advisory role, supporting the firm’s compliance with evolving Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) regulations.

Reporting to the Director, AML Compliance, you will provide senior support across AML advisory, regulatory compliance and client due diligence (CDD) operations. The role will support the AML Compliance Officer (AMLCO) function, including regulatory matters and engagement with AUSTRAC where required, while helping ensure AML requirements are applied consistently across partners, matter teams and business operations. Following the commencement of new AML/CTF requirements for law firms, you’ll help support the firm’s ongoing compliance, operational stabilisation and continued uplift of its AML Program.

What does the role involve?

• Providing advisory support on AML/CTF queries across the business, including partners, matter teams and operations
• Supporting the AMLCO function, including regulatory matters, reporting support and engagement with AUSTRAC where required
• Helping lead CDD operations, including guidance on complex files, escalation points and quality uplift
• Acting as a bridge between operations and governance to ensure consistent application of AML requirements
• Supporting client onboarding processes, including CDD, enhanced due diligence (EDD), risk assessments and ongoing monitoring
• Drafting and reviewing risk assessments for clients and matters, identifying high-risk factors and documenting outcomes
• Monitoring compliance activities, identifying issues and supporting timely escalation and resolution
• Undertaking quality testing across a sample of CDD profiles, conducting regulatory stress testing of controls and managing AML risks, including issues and actions recorded in the risk management register
• Contributing to policy, procedure and process reviews to support ongoing compliance and operational effectiveness

About you

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

• Circa 5+ years’ AML/CTF advisory experience in a first or second line role, ideally within a law firm or regulated professional services environment
• Strong working knowledge of CDD, EDD, client and matter risk assessments and ongoing monitoring
• Experience providing practical AML/CTF advice to stakeholders and supporting escalation pathways for complex matters
• Good knowledge of Australian AML, CTF and sanctions laws, regulations and other compliance-related legislation
• Experience supporting regulatory engagement, reporting obligations or governance processes would be highly regarded
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail and sound judgement
• Confidence operating in a hands-on and advisory hybrid role, with the ability to prioritise, use initiative and make decisions
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels
