About the role
The Financial Accountant is responsible for managing the financial accounting activities for Abbey and its related entities. This role ensures the integrity and accuracy of financial records, compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, and the timely delivery of accurate financial reporting. The position is responsible for leading and coordinating the year-end closing and audit process, including the preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation, liaising with external auditors, coordinating audit requirements across the business, and ensuring audit queries and deliverables are addressed in a timely manner. The role is also integral to supporting strategic business activities, including budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management, while providing meaningful financial analysis and actionable insights to support business decision-making.
Key responsibilities
Oversee and manage all accounting activities for Abbey Group of Companies and related entities.
Manage the Chart of Accounts, Customer, and Vendor master data.
Prepare and review financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Present and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and prepare sales reporting analyses.
Manage and coordinate the month-end closing process, ensuring reconciliations, journals, accruals and reporting requirements are completed accurately and within required deadlines.
Oversee inventory adjustments and stock take.
Lead and coordinate the year-end closing and audit process, including preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation, responding to audit queries, and liaising with external auditors.
Manage cash flow forecasting for Abbey and its related entities, ensuring adequate liquidity to meet business requirements.
Coordinate and support the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
Monitor and analyze actual performance against budget and forecast, investigating and reporting material variances.
About you
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field required.
CPA or CA qualification required.
Minimum of 5-7 years' experience in financial accounting roles with audit and BAS experience.
Proven experience managing end-to-end accounting processes and financial reporting.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to learn quickly, be proactive and work independently.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Knowledge of tax compliance and reporting standards (e.g., BAS, GST).
