We're looking for a Financial Accountant to join us on a 12-month fixed-term parental leave contract. While this is a fixed-term opportunity, there is the possibility it could become permanent for the right person.
About the Role
You'll manage the day-to-day finance function, from accounts payable and receivable to month-end reporting and compliance, ensuring our financial operations run smoothly and accurately.
This is a broad, hands-on role with real ownership. Reporting directly to our CFO, you'll have the opportunity to work closely with leaders across the business, turning financial data into meaningful insights that help shape decisions and support our continued growth.
This is a full-time, hybrid role based in our Oakleigh South office, with three days in the office and two days working from home. We're looking for someone to start on Monday 24 August 2026.
What You'll Do
Accounts Payable & ReceivableOwn the accounts inbox, including the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes and payments Work with the planning team to improve credit limits, payment terms and discounts to positively impact cashflow and margins
ReportingRun the daily and weekly sales reporting and commentary Own the month-end and year-end close process including balance sheet reconciliations Prepare timely, accurate monthly financial reports and analysis, and help pull together performance reporting for leadership. Support the budgeting and forecasting process and help hold departments accountable to their numbers
Compliance & ControlsPrepare compliance reporting including BAS, PAYG, Payroll, Superannuation Payroll Tax and WorkCover Help maintain and continuously improve the internal control environment, including policies and processes Support the yearly audit, working closely with our external accountants and advisors. Provide financial support for stocktakes
CommercialPrepare data analysis to support commercial decisions Contribute to ad hoc projectsIdentify opportunities to improve processes and reporting and data accuracyImplement AI tools to support faster close and reporting processesHelp develop the commercial acumen of the broader team
About You
You're someone who enjoys taking ownership, loves the detail and is always looking for better ways of doing things.
You:Are CA or CPA qualified (or close to it)Have solid experience in a hands-on accounting roleAre confident managing the full month-end process and Australian statutory complianceLove clean reconciliations, accurate reporting and getting the details rightCan translate numbers into practical insights for people who don't live in spreadsheetsEnjoy improving processes and finding better ways of workingIdeally have experience with Shopify, CIN7 Core, Xero and DEXTExperience in retail, ecommerce or an omnichannel business is a bonus
