Diesel Mechanic Heavy Vehicle, Qualified & Apprentices

The Opportunity 

We are looking to hire:

• Heavy Diesel Mechanics Qualified and/or Apprentices with experience

• 4WD, Car and Quad Bike Mechanics willing to up-skill to Heavy Vehicle

• Mature Age Apprentices with experience

• All Apprentices are welcome to apply (Experience required)

• Trade Assistant / Trailer Mechanic keen to learn

• Welder / Fabricator / Boilermaker / All rounder

We have multiple opportunities in VIC to come and work for Dragon Diesel in our modern workshop, in Melbourne (Laverton North) 

• Immediate start available - After 12 February 2026

Tasks 

• Cummins, Detroit and Caterpillar major and minor engine repairs

• Kenworth, Mack, Iveco, Volvo major and minor repairs

• Hino, Izuzu, Mitsubishi major and minor repairs

• Diagnosing and repair of faults, minor and major repairs to complete vehicle

• Using diagnostic software  and laptop to determine faults and plan repair

• Carry out services on a range of vehicles, trucks and trailers, vehicles and equipment

• Breakdowns / Field Service

We carry out major and minor engine repairs including, engine rebuilds, tuneups, gear box, clutch, brakes, king pins and suspension, wheel bearings, and trailers, welding fabrication and break down repairs.

Skills and Experience

• Mechanical experience and knowledge is required

• HR License or above an advantage

• Experience with Kenworth, Mack, Freightliner, Volvo, Cummins, Caterpillar  and Detroit desirable

• Experience in general servicing and maintenance repairs

• Ability to work as a team and unsupervised on trucks and heavy equipment 

• Demonstrated ability working within a fast-paced environment

• Quality work and Attention to detail is essential
