Company Accountant – Emerging Businesses

We are seeking a commercially minded Company Accountant to take full ownership of the finance function across a portfolio of emerging businesses.

Backed by Mader Group, this role offers the stability and structure of a large, established organisation, combined with the pace, autonomy, and variety of a startup environment.

You’ll work across multiple industries and business models, partnering closely with the Director of Emerging Businesses and operational leaders to provide meaningful financial insight, support decision-making and help drive performance.

The Role

This is a true end-to-end accounting role with full accountability across several developing entities. You will manage the complete accounting lifecycle, from transactional processing through to statutory reporting and commercial analysis.

More than just reporting numbers, you will work closely with operations to understand the drivers behind performance, analyse trends, and provide practical, commercially focused advice to support business outcomes.

The role suits someone who enjoys building structure, improving processes, and being embedded in the business — not sitting on the sidelines.

You will report directly to the Director of Emerging Businesses.

Key Responsibilities

• End-to-end accounting across multiple entities and industries

• Accounts payable and receivable, including reconciliations

• Payroll processing and compliance (superannuation, PAYG, leave)

• BAS, IAS, GST and all ATO obligations

• Month-end and year-end close, journals, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations

• Management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow management

• Partnering with operational teams to analyse performance, identify trends, and provide actionable insights

• Supporting new business setup, system implementation, and process design

• Liaising with external accountants, auditors, banks, and advisors

• Strengthening internal controls and financial governance

• Providing commercial analysis and recommendations to support operational and strategic decision-making

About You

• Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CA qualified (or near completion)

• Proven experience in a full-function accounting role

• Strong knowledge of Australian tax, payroll, and compliance requirements

• Comfortable operating across multiple entities and business models

• High attention to detail with the ability to work autonomously

• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate data into practical business insights

• Confident engaging with operational stakeholders and providing advice — not just reporting numbers

• Strong systems experience (Xero, MYOB, or similar)

• Experience across multiple industries is desirable, in particular tourism and medical industries.
