Westcon Landscaping is a specialist retaining wall contractor working on large‑scale residential sub‑division projects. We build Concrete Sleeper, Block and Sandstone retaining walls across the Central Coast and Newcastle regions.

The role

We’re seeking a skilled Excavator Operator to join our team.

You will be responsible for safely and efficiently excavating batters and retaining wall footings, piling piers for concrete sleeper wall posts, installing concrete sleepers and sandstone logs, back filling retaining walls.      

This is a full-time permanent role offering long-term stability with a strong pipeline of work across the Central Coast and Newcastle areas.                  

Key responsibilities

• Operate excavators for battering, benching and piling, detailed footing excavations, building retaining walls, and material handling

• Conduct pre-start inspections and daily safety checks, including fluid levels, greasing, lubrication, and defect reporting

• Assess work areas prior to commencement, identifying hazards, soil conditions, access constraints, and material placement zones

• Ensure plant and equipment are operated safely, cleaned daily, securely stored, and maintained to company standards

• Communicate effectively with Site Managers and leading hands, responding promptly to instructions and reporting issues

• Assist with other site duties as needed to ensure project timelines are met

About you (must have)

•  Demonstrated experience operating Excavators from 3.5t to 30t

• Current Excavator SOA and VOC

• White Card

• Current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle

• Capability to perform daily maintenance and servicing of machinery

• Able to read and interpret construction and service plans

• Strong attention to detail and good communication skills

• Team player with a strong work ethic

• Experience operating a skid steer advantageous but not essential
