About the role
About us
Formed in 1917, QEC is a public sector Early Parenting and Community Services organisation, supporting families across Noble Park, Wodonga, Preston, Hastings and Morwell to build parenting confidence and help children thrive. We deliver a variety of services and support programs to families with young children (aged from newborn to 4 years of age) in partnership with government and not for profit partners.
Our evidence-based programs work alongside families, building on their strengths to support children’s safety, health and development.
At QEC, we work together with families and communities to create a respectful, inclusive and welcoming environment. We celebrate the different strengths and experiences that everyone brings.
We embrace diversity and want to make sure our places, processes and services are fair, more accessible, and open to all. It is important to us that people can express their beliefs, values and needs and that these are heard and understood so that everyone feels safe, respected and feels a sense of belonging.
The role
The Program Coordinator will work part time from our Preston office (4 days a week, Monday - Thursday, fixed term to June 2027) as part of a community-based team, supporting infants, young children and their families to achieve optimal safety, connection, development and wellbeing goals.
The Program Coordinator in Preston is responsible for leading, mentoring and supporting a small multidisciplinary team to deliver high quality care and support for children and families engaged in home based programs, and will have a small client-facing caseload.
The Program Coordinator works competently within their scope of practice to deliver and lead safe, evidence informed, person-centered care to achieve optimal outcomes for all children, providing face to face support to families in their own homes. The Program Coordinator will work collaboratively with Community Early Parenting Practitioners, Case Workers and Clinical Coordinators to provide exceptional service delivery to families experiencing vulnerability in line with QEC’s Model of Care and Practice Framework. The Program Coordinator is also responsible for role modelling, and mentoring QEC community clinicians as well as contributing to a positive and supportive team culture.
The role also involves reviewing referrals for eligibility, pre-admission consults, discharge planning, referrals to ongoing support where required and report writing requirements. As a leader, this role will involve making decisions regarding case direction and risk management in line with current legislation and QEC policy and procedures.
Reporting to the Manager, the Program Coordinator is recognised as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team across various programs, working in alignment with QEC’s Model of Care, Clinical Practice Framework and the Victorian Government Best Interests Case Practice Model.
