Machinery Pre-Delivery & Assembly Technician

Avant Equipment is looking for a mechanically minded and motivated person to join our growing team in a varied, hands-on role preparing machinery and equipment for delivery to customers across Australia.

This is not a traditional mechanic position. Instead, we're looking for someone who enjoys working with machinery, is confident using tools, has good problem-solving skills and takes pride in getting equipment prepared and out the door correctly.

The role combines machinery pre-delivery, assembly, basic mechanical work, fault diagnosis and dispatch support, along with the computer and administrative tasks required to keep jobs organised and moving.

You'll be working with a broad range of machinery, attachments, trailers and accessories, so no two days will necessarily look the same.

What you'll be doing

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out pre-delivery inspections and preparation of new machinery

• Setting up, testing and preparing machines prior to customer delivery

• Diagnosing and resolving minor mechanical, electrical and operational issues

• Carrying out basic mechanical work, adjustments and repairs

• Installing accessories, attachments and optional equipment

• Assembling trailers and other equipment

• Checking machinery and equipment against orders prior to dispatch

• Assisting with loading, dispatch and general warehouse/workshop activities

• Using computer systems to manage jobs, record information and complete required documentation

• Liaising with other team members to ensure equipment is completed and dispatched on time

• Identifying issues and taking the initiative to find practical solutions

• Keeping the workshop and work areas organised and safe

• Scheduling service work and providing phone support to customers

• Site work as required to complete other duties

About you

We're not necessarily looking for a qualified mechanic.

You may come from a mechanical, automotive, machinery, agricultural, fabrication, assembly, accessory fitting, trade assistant or similar hands-on background.

More importantly, you'll be someone who is mechanically minded, practical and willing to learn.

To succeed in this role, you'll ideally have:

• Good mechanical aptitude and confidence working with machinery

• Experience using hand and power tools

• The ability to diagnose problems and work through solutions logically

• Good computer skills and confidence learning new software

• Strong time-management and organisational skills

• The ability to prioritise jobs and work to deadlines

• Initiative and the ability to work without needing constant direction

• Good attention to detail

• A practical, common-sense approach to problem solving

• Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team

• A willingness to jump in and help where required

Previous experience with machinery, hydraulics, automotive equipment, trailers, agricultural equipment or similar would be highly regarded, but attitude, mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn are just as important to us.
