Accounts Payable Officer

The Opportunity

This is a rare kind of National Accounts Payable role. You'll run the function. You'll be the person suppliers, buyers, warehouse teams and Finance leadership all rely on to get it right and the person trusted to decide when the process itself needs to change.

Built on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, our payables function has real scope for someone who wants to bring modern thinking to a traditional discipline this can include automating what should be automated, questioning what doesn't add up, and using every tool available (yes, including AI) to solve problems before they become other people's escalations.

What You’ll Own

• End-to-end accuracy and timeliness of national supplier payments, across domestic and international suppliers

• The health and integrity of our Microsoft Business Central accounts payable data

• Strong, trusted relationships across Finance, buying, inventory and repairs

• A continuous improvement agenda. Spotting friction in the process and fixing it, not just flagging it

What You’ll Bring

• 5+ years’ accounts payable experience in a large, complex organisation

• Genuine fluency in payables in an ERP system. Microsoft Business Central experience is a strong advantage, as is SAP, Oracle

• Procure-to-pay experience

• Sharp Excel skills and a natural comfort navigating systems and data

• A track record of improving processes, not just following them

• The judgement to balance meticulous accuracy with commercial pragmatism

• The confidence to build relationships and influence at every level of the business

• The focus to hit payment deadlines and handle the volumes, while simultaneously improving the efficiency of the function

• A restless curiosity to ask "why do we do it this way?" more often than you accept the answer
