The RoleLeads and manages the Mining and Critical Risks Investigations Branch including the Branch's physical, human and financial resources and ensures delivery of outcomes identified in the Department's Strategic Plan and ongoing investigative process improvement and reform initiatives are achieved.Provides strategic leadership in the provision of quality customer focused, timely and cost-effective investigative activities into potential breaches of offence provisions, including those arising from serious injury and fatality events prescribed under the following legislative instruments (the relevant legislation):- Mining Act 1978 and associated regulations;- Work Health and Safety (WHS) Act 2020 and associated regulations;- Petroleum Pipelines Act 1969;- Petroleum and Geothermal Energy Resources Act 1967; and- Petroleum (Submerged Lands) Act 1982.Reviews investigative outcomes and ensuring that consistent and ethical enforcement outcomes, including recommending potential prosecution of breaches of the relevant legislation.Co-ordinates and allocates resources to the Branch's investigative responses to serious injury and fatality events.Work outside of normal business hours, participate in a rotational on call roster and undertake travel as required.
