About the Role

Ruah is seeking an experienced and passionate Multicultural Specialist to lead and champion multicultural inclusion across the organisation.

Reporting to the Executive Manager Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, you will provide strategic leadership, expert advice and project oversight to strengthen culturally safe, accessible and inclusive services for people from refugee, migrant and culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) backgrounds.

Working across the organisation, you will influence policy, practice and workforce capability while building strong relationships with multicultural communities, government agencies and sector partners. This is a unique opportunity to drive meaningful organisational change and help shape a more inclusive future for both our clients and employees.

This is a full-time permanent position based in Northbridge.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead implementation of Ruah's Multicultural Framework and Action Plan.
• Provide expert advice and recommendations to leaders on multicultural inclusion and cultural safety.
• Enhance organisational policies, procedures and practices to improve inclusion and accessibility.
• Coordinate and support the Multicultural Advisory Group.
• Design, facilitate and coordinate cultural safety and capability-building initiatives.
• Contribute to service design, tender applications, program development and evaluations.
• Develop and maintain strong partnerships with multicultural communities, government agencies and sector stakeholders.
• Monitor progress, outcomes and risks relating to multicultural initiatives and provide reports to senior leaders.
• Represent Ruah in external forums, networks and community engagement activities.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen outcomes for refugee, migrant and CaLD clients and employees.

What we're looking for

The successful applicant will be required to meet the following criteria:

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Community Development, Social Sciences or a related discipline.
• Minimum five years' experience working with refugee and migrant communities.
• Strong understanding of the experiences, challenges and barriers faced by refugees, migrants and CaLD communities.
• Demonstrated project leadership and project management experience.
• Sound understanding of the social, political and policy environment impacting refugees and migrants in Australia.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports, briefings and recommendations.
• Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience developing and delivering training, education or workforce capability initiatives.
• Demonstrated understanding of issues facing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.
• Commitment to Ruah's vision, mission and values.

The following criteria are considered desirable:

• Lived experience as a refugee or migrant.
• Qualifications in Project Management.
• Experience leading diversity, inclusion or organisational change initiatives.
• Experience within the community services, not-for-profit or health sectors.

• A salary aligned with Level 6 of the Ruah Enterprise Agreement (and the SCHADS Award) starting at $115,709 + Super.
