About the role
About the role
An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Transport Engineer (Program Manager) to lead the delivery of a diverse portfolio of transport infrastructure projects that support safer, more sustainable and connected communities.
This role is responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of transport engineering programs and projects, including cycling infrastructure, pedestrianisation initiatives, road safety improvements and major capital works. Combining advanced technical expertise with strong program and project management accountability, the position oversees multiple complex projects from concept through to delivery, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
Working across the full project lifecycle, the role plays a key part in program planning, financial management, budget reporting and project governance, while balancing the needs of a broad range of road users, stakeholders and community members. The position provides expert advice on transport engineering, parking and road safety matters, leads stakeholder engagement activities and contributes to the successful delivery of wider capital works programs.
Why join Team Melbourne?
Located on the traditional lands of the Bunurong Boon Wurrung and Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung peoples of the Kulin Nation, Melbourne is globally recognised as one of the most liveable, diverse, and dynamic cities.
At the heart of it all is the City of Melbourne – a passionate, purpose-driven organisation where your work truly matters. As part of Team Melbourne, you’ll help deliver what’s most important to the people who live, work, study, visit and invest in our great city.
We’re proud champions of diversity, committed to continuous improvement, and driven by a shared vision for a vibrant and sustainable future.
This is more than just a role – it’s your chance to make a real impact, contribute to something bigger, and shape Melbourne’s future alongside a collaborative and forward-thinking team.
About you
You are a highly capable transport engineering professional with strong program and project management expertise, able to successfully lead complex infrastructure projects from planning through to delivery. With a collaborative and solutions-focused approach, you excel at managing stakeholders, navigating competing priorities and delivering high-quality outcomes that enhance safety, connectivity and community liveability.
You bring a strong understanding of transport engineering, road safety and capital works delivery, combined with the ability to provide expert advice, manage program performance and drive innovative, customer-focused transport solutions.
