About the role
M.D.A Cabinets is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Apprentice Cabinet Maker to join our team in Chandler, QLD. This is a fantastic opportunity to launch your career in the skilled trades, learning from experienced craftspeople in a dynamic and supportive environment. As an apprentice, you will be working full-time, gaining hands-on experience in all aspects of cabinet making, from design and planning through to construction and finishing. This role is essential to our operations and will provide you with the foundation to become a skilled tradesperson in the cabinet-making industry.
What you'll be doing
Assisting experienced cabinet makers in the design, planning and layout of cabinet projects
Learning to operate and safely use a variety of hand tools, power tools and machinery used in cabinet making
Preparing and selecting appropriate timber and materials for projects
Assisting with the cutting, shaping and assembly of cabinet components
Learning finishing techniques including sanding, staining and varnishing
Helping to install completed cabinets at client locations
Maintaining a clean and organised workshop environment
Following all health and safety protocols and wearing appropriate personal protective equipment
Learning to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Assisting with quality control and ensuring work meets our high standards
What we're looking for
Currently enrolled in or willing to enrol in an apprenticeship programme in cabinet making
A genuine passion for working with your hands and creating quality crafted products
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
Reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic
Ability to follow instructions and learn from experienced tradespeople
Good communication and teamwork skills
Physical fitness and ability to lift and move materials and completed items
Willingness to develop knowledge of health and safety procedures in a workshop environment
Basic numeracy and literacy skills
A valid manual driver's licence is preferred to assist with occasional site visits and deliveries
