Full Stack Software Engineer

We are an dynamic and energetic start up developing software to support Australia's emerging private markets sector and financial advisors to wholesale investors. The Role

We're seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer to join our small, experienced team building the technology behind Australia's growing private-markets sector, and to assist in leading on the technical direction of that platform. You'll work across the full development lifecycle: understanding problems with investment specialists, designing technical solutions, shipping them to production, and improving them based on customer and business needs. You'll have meaningful influence over both the products we build and the engineering systems behind them.

This is a hands on role that will develop into a Lead Engineer’s role for the right candidate. Beyond your own delivery, you'll help set architecture, engineering standards and technical direction as the team and platform grow. The domain requires systems that are secure, reliable and auditable, with a strong focus on data integrity and accuracy.

What You'll Do

●      Design, build and maintain customer-facing products, internal tools and supporting services.

●      Build and evolve APIs, data models, databases and data-processing workflows.

●      Work closely with portfolio managers, investment specialists and other stakeholders to turn complex domain requirements into practical software.

●      Lead improvements to system architecture, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, security and technical documentation.

●      Own the systems you build through design, implementation, deployment, operation and ongoing improvement.

●      Investigate production issues and improve the reliability and performance of the platform.

●      Set technical direction through planning, code reviews and engineering standards, and help shape decisions as the team scales.

About You

●      Strong commercial software-engineering experience building and operating production systems, with a track record of technical leadership or seniority.

●      Experience taking meaningful features or services from initial requirements through to production.

●      Strong experience in at least one part of our stack. We use React, Node.js and Go, and do not expect every candidate to be an expert in all three.

●      Experience designing APIs, services and data models.

●      Good knowledge of relational databases and SQL, including schema design and performance considerations.

●      Experience designing or operating systems on cloud infrastructure, ideally AWS including documentation

●      Practical experience with automated testing, CI/CD, monitoring and production troubleshooting.

●      A strong understanding of application security and reliable software-development practices.

●      The ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical colleagues, including investment specialists and business stakeholders.

●      Be proactive on security and the importance of data protection, auditability and documentation

●      Comfort working in a small team, managing competing priorities, and taking ownership of outcomes.

Nice to Have

●      Experience in financial services, investment management, fund administration or another data-sensitive industry.

●      Experience with infrastructure as code, containers or cloud-native services.

●      Experience building data pipelines, integrations or reconciliation systems.
