Commercial Credit Analyst

Hermes Capital Australia is a boutique private credit and commercial finance firm providing tailored, agile and practical funding solutions to businesses across a range of industries.As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a commercially minded, switched-on Commercial Credit Analyst to join our team and support transactions from initial assessment through to settlement.
This isn’t just a number-crunching role.You need to be comfortable with financial statements, cash flow, credit analysis and spreadsheets. But just as importantly, you need common sense, curiosity, critical thinking and practical commercial judgement.We want someone who can look beyond the numbers and ask:What is actually happening in this business?Is the narrative reflected in the financials?Where does repayment really come from?What could go wrong?What information actually matters, what’s noise, and what’s missing?Can the risks be addressed through sensible structuring?What needs to happen to get this deal settled?
What You’ll DoYou’ll work closely with our origination team and senior management across the full deal lifecycle.Credit & Commercial AnalysisAssess commercial finance applications and analyse financial and supporting informationUnderstand the business, cash flow, servicing, security and exit strategy behind each transactionIdentify inconsistencies, missing information and risks requiring further investigationUndertake company, industry and transaction-specific researchPrepare concise credit submissions with clear recommendationsHelp structure commercially sensible transactions while appropriately managing riskDeal Execution & SettlementsTake ownership of approved transactions through to settlementCoordinate borrowers, brokers, solicitors, valuers, funders and other stakeholdersManage conditions precedent, documentation and settlement requirementsAnticipate and resolve issues before they delay a transactionEnsure settlement figures and documentation are accurateKeep deals moving and stakeholders informed

You do need to be comfortable using AI to make yourself a better analyst—to interrogate information, research businesses and industries, identify anomalies, compare documents, accelerate analysis and improve workflows.AI can help you reach an answer faster. It can’t replace your judgement.You’ll be expected to verify information, challenge assumptions and form your own commercial view.
Who We’re Looking ForYou’ll ideally have experience in commercial lending, private credit, banking, finance or a related analytical role. But your exact background matters less than how you think and operate.We’re looking for someone who:Has strong common sense, critical thinking and commercial judgementIs curious, asks good questions and notices when something doesn’t make senseCan analyse financial information without losing sight of the bigger pictureCan distinguish what matters from what doesn’t—and identify what’s missingIs comfortable forming and defending a viewIs practical, solutions-oriented and takes ownershipCan manage multiple live transactions and competing deadlinesCommunicates confidently with clients and professional stakeholdersEmbraces AI, technology and better ways of workingHas strong attention to detailExperience in commercial credit or lending and a relevant degree will be highly regarded, but capability, judgement and attitude matter more to us than collecting credentials.
