About the role
As a Lifting & Rigging Technician, you'll work hands-on across the Portsmith workshop and out in the field — mainly aboard vessels — supporting the inspection, testing, splicing and certification of lifting and rigging gear. Work includes on-site and workshop inspections of lifting and rigging equipment, wire rope splicing, swaging and chain/rope assembly work, proof-load testing and preparation of gear for certification, working aboard vessels as well as in the Portsmith facility, and maintaining a strong, consistent focus on safety.
Key responsibilities
Carry out on-site and workshop inspections of lifting and rigging equipment
Support wire rope splicing, swaging and chain/rope assembly work
Conduct proof-load testing and prepare gear for certification
Work aboard vessels as well as in the Portsmith facility
Maintain a strong, consistent focus on safety in everything you do
Build good working relationships with clients and crews on site
About you
Trade-qualified with hands-on lifting/rigging experience
Current White Card, Forklift ticket and Working at Heights ticket (QLD) required
Dogging or Rigging ticket highly desirable
Comfortable working both in a workshop and on vessels — a physically demanding, hands-on role
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Able to work autonomously and manage your own time on site
Clear communicator, reliable and safety-first in approach
