About the role
The Role
The Exhibitions Section has responsibility for the development and management of the Memorial’s galleries and touring exhibitions program. This includes the planning and delivery of permanent, temporary and touring exhibitions and the implementation of an extensive gallery maintenance program and integration during the current Development Project.
The Exhibitions Officer will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team of exhibition and AV specialists focused on the management, development, production, implementation and maintenance of all aspects of the exhibitions and gallery program in cooperation with other sections. The position requires experience in the delivery of interpretative exhibition design projects within the museum or art gallery sector; an understanding of contemporary museum practice; and the ability work collaboratively across multiple projects simultaneously.
This position will initially be filled up to September 2028, with the possibility for permanency.
Core Responsibilities
Under direction, provide project management and administrative support in the planning, production and installation of permanent, temporary and touring exhibitions and gallery maintenance projects, including:
Prepare and coordinate exhibition project documentation for all phases of development.
Prepare and coordinate exhibition tour documentation and undertake tour management of small to medium touring projects.
Coordinate meetings and prepare and distribute minutes.
Undertake small scale graphic and spatial design projects to support exhibition and gallery maintenance deliverables.
Coordinate and contribute to the installation and demount of exhibitions at the Memorial and on tour.
Assist in the implementation of exhibition policies and procedures.
Provide administrative support for the Exhibitions Section
Establish and maintain productive working relationships with Memorial staff, contractors and stakeholders.
Contribute to the preparation or reports, grants, sponsorship proposals and acquittals.
Manual handling and movement of a wide range of collection material and exhibition infrastructure.
Position Eligibility
Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
All applicants external to AWM that are offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a National Police Check, even if they currently hold a security clearance. The check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
