About the role
As the Manager of the Facilities and Audio Visual team you will manage a small team to oversee the catering contract and audio visual services for all function spaces, oversee the provision of facility management services for the Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House, including maintaining the building, providing a clean, healthy environment for staff, tenants and visitors and ensuring public safety in terms of emergency management and fulfilling the role of Chief Emergency Warden. The team is responsible for the progressive facilities projects, upgrading of the building infrastructure and managing minor refurbishment projects, whilst ensuring the preservation of the heritage fabric.
As a member of the Facilities, Security, Heritage & Collections Section you will assist in managing the operational aspects and strategic planning for the building assets in line with the Life Cycle Cost Plan (LCCP) and associated budgets. Your role will provide technical advice for major/minor refurbishments and capital works projects, reviewing technical briefs and specifications, arranging contracts and overseeing the services for cleaning, gardening, waste management, pest control and the maintenance contract. The position will manage and report on the financial control of the Facilities and Audio Visual team.
The key duties of the position include:Under the direction of the Head of Facilities, Security, Heritage & Collections you will be required to:
1. The day to day management of a small team of APS staff to deliver all facilities, catering and audio visual requirements for the Agency.
2. Technical review and advice for major/minor infrastructure and refurbishment projects;
3. Manage the ongoing maintenance and facilities works program including strategic planning, condition assessments, and financial management of the team’s budget.
4. Management of building and services contracts including maintenance, cleaning, waste management, pest management, horticulture, utilities also manage the external catering contract;
5. Arrange new contracts when required including preparing tender documentation, tender evaluation, contract transition and management;
6. Assist in the management of strategic planning for routine and cyclical maintenance, upgrading of services infrastructure, energy and environmental control systems; emergency response management; accommodation planning, building access, LCCP development;
7. Undertaking the role of Chief Emergency Warden.
EligibilityTo be eligible for this position at MoAD, applicants must:
• be an Australian Citizen; and
• have a security clearance or be willing to undertake the process to obtain a baseline clearance (after commencement).
