Kal Tire Australia have an exciting opportunity for a Relief Leading Hand to join our team across multiple mining sites.

About the Role:

The Relief Leading Hand is responsible for supervising Kal Tire’s onsite service teams and managing day-to-day operations and customer relationships across multiple sites as required. This role acts as a key support to site leadership in maintaining operational, safety, and service delivery standards.

This is a FIFO position with paid flights from Brisbane or Townsville. Candidates must be available to work across all roster patterns including 7/7 and 8/6 and as required.

Specifically, this role will involve:

• Supervise and direct tyre fitting and workshop activities across sites
• Ensure contract scope of works and KPIs are achieved
• Prioritise daily work and allocate tasks to team members
• Ensure compliance with Kal Tire and site policies and procedures
• Maintain accurate tyre data and ensure timely entry into CTMMS
• Manage site stock levels including tyres, rims and consumables
• Coordinate flights and site logistics for team members
• Maintain accurate documentation and site records
• Conduct safety audits on tools and equipment
• Ensure all personnel are inducted, compliant and working safely
• Lead safety meetings, inspections and hazard reporting
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions
• Perform tyre fitting duties as required

This role is offered on a FIFO basis with paid flights from Brisbane or Townsville and requires flexibility to work across multiple sites and roster schedules.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

• Minimum 1–2 years’ experience as a qualified heavy earthmover tyre fitter
• Strong commitment to safety and operational excellence
• Proven ability to lead and support a team
• Experience working in a mining or heavy industry environment
• Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Outlook and data entry systems
• Certificate II in Automotive (Tyre Fitting – Light and Heavy) or equivalent
• Current driver’s licence (heavy vehicle licence highly regarded)
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol test
