POSITION SUMMARY

FMR Investments is seeking experienced residential Long Hole Drillers based at our Gordon Sirdar Gold Mine, approximately 55km north-east of Kalgoorlie. The company provides transport between the site and Kalgoorlie. This residential (No FIFO) role operates on a 12-hour 7 days on, 7 days off, 7 nights on, 7 days off roster.

ROLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Long Hole Driller at our underground gold mine, you will play a key role in delivering safe and efficient production drilling. Operating long-hole drilling equipment, you'll drill production and slot patterns in line with mine plans, supporting blasting activities, ore recovery, and production targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate long-hole drilling equipment to complete production and slot drilling in accordance with mine plans and drilling designs.

• Conduct pre-start inspections, identify and report equipment faults, and perform routine operator maintenance.

• Set up and align drilling equipment using survey marks and drill plans to achieve accurate hole placement.

• Monitor drilling performance and adjust operating parameters to maximise safety, productivity, and hole quality.

• Maintain safe and tidy work areas, including managing ground conditions, water, and drill site housekeeping.

• Collaborate with survey, geology, charge-up, and production teams to support efficient underground operations and meet shift targets.

• Complete daily operational records, pre-starts, hazard reports, and shift documentation.

• Comply with all site safety, environmental, and operational procedures.

Equipment

• Horse shoe rigs or Stick long-hole drill rigs

• Hydraulic and pneumatic drilling tools

• Air and water hoses, split sets, and plug materials

• Survey lasers and alignment systems

• Drilling control and monitoring systems

• Underground communication systems

• Tablets and electronic reporting systems

• Light vehicles (LVs) for underground mobility

KEY REQUIREMENTS

Essential

• Proven experience operating Long Hole Drill rigs in an underground mining environment

• Current C Class Manual Driver’s Licence

• Physically fit and able to work in hot, secure, and confined environments.

• Results driven with strong spatial awareness and attention to detail.

• High initiative, a can-do attitude, and the ability to work independently and remotely

• Flexible and adaptable with strong problem-solving skills.

• Team-oriented with the ability to effectively collaborate with other trades and stakeholders.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions.

• Safety-focused with a commitment to zero harm.

Desirable

• Nationally recognised competency on Sandvik or Epiroc (Atlas Copco) long-hole drill rigs.

• Basic mechanical aptitude or maintenance background.

• Experience in stope design interpretation or charge-up coordination.

• Supervisory training or experience

• Strong technical knowledge in the gold resource sector operations or mining industry 

• First Aid or Emergency Response training

• High Risk Work Licence (HRWL)

• Working Safely at Heights and Confined Space Entry Tickets
