Laboratory Technician - Compounding Pharmacy

Role Description This full-time, on-site Laboratory Technician role at Tugun Compounding Pharmacy is based in Gold Coast, QLD. The Laboratory Technician supports the preparation of compounded medications by operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, following compounding formulas, and adhering to pharmacy and safety protocols. Responsibilities include measuring, mixing, and labelling ingredients with precision, maintaining sterile and clean work areas, and assisting pharmacists with the accurate documentation of batches. The role involves monitoring inventory of raw materials and supplies, performing routine checks on equipment, and supporting quality control processes to ensure products meet regulatory and internal standards. The Laboratory Technician collaborates with the pharmacy team, follows standard operating procedures, and contributes to continuous improvement of compounding workflows.
QualificationsCandidates should possess strong laboratory skills, including experience working in a pharmacy or scientific laboratory environment.Candidates should possess proficiency with laboratory equipment, including operation, calibration, and basic maintenance.Candidates should possess a solid understanding of quality control practices and compliance with relevant regulatory and safety standards.Candidates should possess well-developed analytical skills to accurately measure, record, and verify compounding data.Candidates should possess experience as laboratory technicians or in a similar technical support role within healthcare, pharmaceuticals, or science.Certificate or diploma in laboratory technology, pharmacy technician, pharmaceutical sciences, or related field is preferred.Strong attention to detail, ability to follow written procedures, and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety in the workspace.Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, patient-focused pharmacy environment.
