Solid Surface Trades Assistant – No Experience Required

Looking for a hands-on role where you can learn a real specialist trade?

Capital Solid Surface is looking for a Trades Assistant to join our team in Queanbeyan.

We manufacture and install solid surface products for commercial, healthcare, government and residential projects across the ACT and NSW.

You don't need solid surface experience — we'll teach you.

We're looking for someone practical, reliable and keen to learn. Previous experience in construction, manufacturing, labouring or another hands-on role is great, but attitude and practical ability matter more to us than your previous job title.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

• Assisting with solid surface fabrication

• Cutting, shaping, sanding, polishing and finishing

• Learning joining and fabrication techniques

• Using hand tools, power tools and workshop machinery

• Assisting with CNC production, thermoforming and custom fabrication

• Assisting with site installations

• Reading measurements, drawings and job information

• Handling materials and finished products

• Helping keep the workshop safe, organised and productive

As your skills develop, you'll take on more fabrication work and greater responsibility.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You'll need to be:

• Practical and comfortable working with your hands

• Reliable and willing to learn

• Able to follow instructions and pay attention to detail

• Someone who takes pride in doing a job properly

• Able to work well as part of a team

• Physically capable of hands-on workshop and installation work

• A current driver's licence holder

Previous workshop, manufacturing, construction, labouring or Trades Assistant experience is highly regarded but not essential.

A White Card and relevant safety training are also desirable. If you're otherwise the right person and don't currently hold everything required, talk to us.

We're a specialist manufacturer with a modern, well-equipped workshop and varied work. You'll receive hands-on training in solid surface fabrication, experience with CNC and specialist equipment, and the opportunity to take on more responsibility as your skills grow.

This isn't a dead-end factory hand job. If you're capable and want to learn, there's plenty of room to develop.
