About the role
Location: Balgo (Wirrimanu) Western Australia
Full-Time, Maximum Term Position (12 months)
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Manager to lead and coordinate operational, maintenance and asset management activities across the remote communities of Balgo, Bililuna and Mulan.
The opportunity may be ideal for individuals seeking a remote lifestyle or couples wishing to relocate together, with additional employment opportunities available within the community for suitable candidates.
Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring the effective management of community infrastructure, workshops, plant and equipment, fleet operations, fuel supplies, contractor management and maintenance programs. The position is ideal for a trade qualified person in the Mechanical trade or similar and who has the skills to play a key role in supporting the delivery of essential services and maintaining assets that support community wellbeing and organisational operations.
The successful candidate will be a practical and solutions-focused leader with strong operational management experience, excellent organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a remote Aboriginal community environment
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and oversee maintenance programs and operational activities across Balgo, Bililuna and Mulan.
Assist the CEO to develop operational priorities, maintenance schedules and asset management plans.
Supervise workshop staff and maintenance personnel, including work allocation, performance monitoring and day-to-day leadership.
Coordinate and manage contractors, service providers and maintenance projects.
Oversee workshops, depots, tools, equipment and maintenance systems.
Manage the Corporation's fleet, plant and equipment, including servicing, repairs and asset replacement planning.
Coordinate fuel supplies and fuel storage facilities across all communities.
Monitor infrastructure, buildings and community assets to ensure they remain safe and operational.
Support project delivery and community development initiatives.
Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.
Prepare operational reports and provide regular updates to the CEO and Board.
Build positive relationships with community members, Traditional Owners, staff, contractors and stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
Demonstrated experience in operations, maintenance, facilities, infrastructure or asset management.
Experience managing staff, contractors and operational projects.
Strong leadership, organisational and problem-solving skills.
Experience managing vehicles, plant, equipment and maintenance programs.
Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements.
Ability to prepare reports, manage budgets and maintain operational records.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to work effectively within a remote community environment.
A Current unrestricted Australian Driver's Licence.
A National Police Clearance (not older than 6 months).
Salary and Benefits
A salary of $135,000 per annum plus superannuation
Annual Leave of 5 weeks plus 17.5% Annual leave loading
An additional 4 weeks of Special Leave per year (* based on an additional 7 hours worked each week)
