About the role

As a dedicated Claims Account Manager, you will own and manage a portfolio of Freight Forwarders Liability claims on behalf of insurer clients, ensuring accurate and timely claims handling, maintaining comprehensive claims records and documentation, and processing financial transactions in accordance with delegated authority and claims management system requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of Freight Forwarders Liability claims from notification through to resolution, ensuring compliance with delegated authority guidelines and service standards
• Conduct coverage assessments, liability investigations, reserve management, and claims strategy development to achieve effective and commercially sound claim outcomes
• Exercise delegated authority for claims decisions, settlements, payments, and litigation management within approved limits
• Liaise with clients, brokers, insureds, and other stakeholders to ensure timely communication, effective claim resolution, and strong stakeholder relationships
• Monitor claims performance and financial exposure, including reserve management, settlement negotiations, recoveries, subrogation opportunities, reporting, and portfolio analysis
• Maintain accurate claims records and ensure compliance with regulatory, governance, and internal requirements while supporting legacy claim remediation, continuous improvement initiatives, and team development

About you

• Bachelor's degree in law
• Accuracy, attention to detail and quality
• Time management and demonstrated ability to prioritise and multi-task
• Effective negotiation and advocacy ability
• Strong verbal and written communication including sound telephone manner
• Computer skills - usage of internal systems
• Drafting documents, letter writing and typing ability
• Solid analytical and dispute resolution ability
• Relationship building
• Presentation skills
• Broad understanding of the insurance industry including the role of brokers and industry stakeholders as well as the Lloyd's marketplace
• Understanding of the Insurance Contracts Act, the Insurance Code of Practice and Privacy Code
• Interpretation of insurance policies, clauses and exclusions
• Ability to assess quantum and reserve effectively
• Ability to identify conflicts of interest
