Macquarie University Hospital (MUH) opened its doors in June 2010 as the first university campus-based private hospital in Australia. Set in the expansive grounds of Macquarie University, amid one of the fastest growing areas of Sydney and conveniently placed within walking distance of the Macquarie University metro station, this 181-bed tertiary teaching hospital combines state-of-the-art facilities with the world’s leading clinical practice and research.

We are looking for an enthusiastic pharmacist to join our main dispensary team. You may be required to assist in the outpatient, ward, and/or clinical trials department if needed. Primary tasks will include conducting medication reviews using electronic medical charts, dispensing and supplying medications for the wards, patient counselling, and working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary healthcare team and participate in the dispensary on call and weekend roster as required.

All applicants must be competent, professional and committed to providing a high standard of patient care. They will require excellent communication skills, demonstrate the ability to prioritise tasks and exhibit proficient time management. They will be expected to take initiative in problem-solving, complete work at a high-quality level, and be capable of dealing with patient needs in a sensitive manner. Applicants should be aware that they will be expected to work with and embrace the technology and computer systems of the hospital.

The successful candidate must possess and must be able to provide evidence of:

·         Current AHPRA pharmacist registration

·         Tertiary qualification (BPharm or MPharm)

·         Current indemnity insurance

·         Current working with children check

Highly desirable attributes include:

•       Prior inpatient hospital experience

•       Familiarity with the PBS in a private hospital context

•       An interest in IT/e-prescribing systems
