As a specialist in our Financial Crime Risk team, you'll make an impact by:

• Safeguarding the bank's operations against complex international risks by supporting our Sanctions and Tax Transparency frameworks.
• Providing timely and pragmatic advice on sanctions screening, high-risk customers, and complex international transactions.
• Translating complex regulatory requirements (Sanctions, FATCA, CRS) into clear, actionable insights that protect the bank, our customers, and the community.
• Collaborating across the business to embed a proactive and intelligent approach to managing Sanctions and Tax Transparency obligations.

The Senior Analyst, Sanctions and Tax Transparency reports to the Senior Manager - Financial Crime Sanctions & Tax Transparency. In this pivotal specialist role, you will be at the forefront of maturing the bank's approach to managing risks associated with international sanctions and global tax transparency rules.

You will be responsible for assisting in the design and delivery of risk management strategies for these critical risk types, from policy design and implementation to providing robust second-line oversight. A key focus will be to ensure our control frameworks are resilient, defensible, and meet complex international obligations.

Key accountabilities include:

• Policy Frameworks: Assist with the design, implementation, and maintenance of the bank's policies, standards, and control frameworks for Sanctions, Anti-Bribery & Corruption, and FATCA/CRS.
• Second-Line Risk Oversight & Challenge: Help provide effective second-line oversight and challenge to the business, ensuring controls are designed effectively and operating as intended.
• Expert Advisory: Support the provision of timely and pragmatic advice to the business on Sanctions and Tax Transparency matters, including complex transactions and high-risk customers.
• Regulatory Change: Assist in identifying, assessing, and overseeing the implementation of business-wide changes stemming from new sanctions lists or evolving tax transparency regulations.
• Incidents and Investigations: Help manage potential sanctions breaches or significant FATCA/CRS reporting issues, including assisting with any necessary regulatory disclosures.

Essential:

• Proven experience in a specialist role focusing on Sanctions or Tax Transparency (FATCA/CRS) within a financial institution.
• Solid knowledge of Australian and key international Sanctions regimes (e.g., UN, OFAC, HMT, EU) and global tax transparency regimes (FATCA/CRS).
• A strong understanding of risk management principles, particularly the "Three Lines of Defence" model.
• The ability to interpret complex regulations and provide clear, commercially sound, and actionable advice.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build credibility and influence business decisions.

Highly desirable:

• A tertiary qualification in a business-related discipline.
• A financial crime industry qualification (e.g., ACAMs, CAMS).
• Experience providing advice on complex, high-risk customer cases, transactions, or strategic business proposals.

This is a permanent full-time position located in Melbourne, Bendigo, Adelaide, Sydney or Brisbane.
