About Bunurong Land Council

Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation (BLCAC) is the Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) representing the Bunurong people of the South-Eastern Kulin Nation.

We advocate for the protection of Bunurong cultural heritage, the care of Country, and the wellbeing of our community and workforce across Greater Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula and the Bass Coast. Our work is grounded in culture, respect and strong governance.

About the Role

BLCAC is seeking a motivated and community-focused Treaty Coordinator to support Bunurong participation in the Victorian Treaty process.

Reporting to the Deputy CEO, this role supports BLCAC's Treaty readiness by coordinating community engagement activities, maintaining project documentation and records, supporting stakeholder relationships, and assisting with the delivery of Treaty-related projects and initiatives.

Working closely with Bunurong members, community, Traditional Owners and key external stakeholders, you will help coordinate engagement activities, support organisational readiness and contribute to initiatives that strengthen self-determination and support Bunurong participation in Victoria's Treaty process.

Previous Treaty experience is not essential. We are seeking someone with strong project coordination, community engagement and relationship-building skills who is committed to Aboriginal self-determination and supporting positive outcomes for Bunurong people.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate BLCAC's participation in the Victorian Treaty process and support the implementation of Treaty-related priorities.
• Coordinate culturally appropriate community engagement and consultation activities.

• Coordinate communication and engagement activities with BLCAC's Reserved Seat Assembly Member.

• Organise meetings, workshops, forums, events and information sessions.
• Support communication and information sharing with Bunurong members and community.
• Maintain Treaty project plans, records, resources and documentation to support organisational readiness.
• Prepare reports, briefing papers, meeting papers, correspondence and project updates.
• Build and maintain productive relationships with Treaty stakeholders and partner organisations.
• Monitor developments in the Victorian Treaty process and provide updates as required.
• Support funding applications, reporting obligations and project administration activities.
• Coordinate communication and engagement activities with BLCAC's Reserved Seat Assembly Member.
• Provide project and operational support to the Deputy CEO in delivering Treaty initiatives and projects.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of Treaty systems, processes and engagement activities.

What You Bring

Qualifications and Experience:

• Aboriginality is essential. Bunurong Nation is highly regarded.
• Demonstrated interest in and understanding of Aboriginal self-determination, with knowledge of the Victorian Treaty process desirable.
• Experience coordinating projects, programs or community engagement initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal communities and an understanding of cultural protocols.
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the preparation of reports and correspondence.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Relevant qualifications in Indigenous Studies, Community Development, Public Policy, Project Management or a related discipline are desirable.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Current Victorian Driver Licence.
• Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check, or willingness to obtain.
