About The Role

We currently have opportunities available in our Engineering Associate Program to offer recent graduates who have completed their Advanced Diploma in Civil Construction Design or Advanced Diploma in Civil and Structural Engineering at a Western Australian TAFE. 

Applications will be considered for current students who will be completing their Advanced Diploma by December 2026 for our 2027 intake.

This is a three-year rotational program, providing practical learning experiences in a range of specialist areas. The rotations are based on your strengths, skills, and interest within business needs and include a 12-month rotation in one of our regional locations, fast tracking your experience in how our engineering projects impact our communities.

To be considered for our Engineering Associate Program, you must:

• be a recent TAFE graduate (within 2 years from completion of your Advanced Diploma) or have your Advanced Diploma completed by December 2026 for our 2027 intake.
• be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
• be motivated to work at Main Roads, demonstrated through your strengths and personal attributes
• have a career interest in materials engineering; or working in regional areas
• have strong problem-solving skills, including embracing change and challenge
• be great at working together in teams
• be able to build relationships with stakeholders

How to Apply

Please submit the following documentation in your application:

• A copy of your completed Advanced Diploma in Civil Construction Design or Advanced Diploma in Civil and Structural Engineering. Applicants that are currently completing their studies are to submit their most current academic results.

• Your CV
• A copy of your current WA motor vehicle (car) Driver’s Licence (or approved equivalent)
• Proof of Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency

• A cover letter outlining why you are interested in working for the Main Roads Engineering Associate Program, highlighting your interest in working for Main Roads WA, and provide an example of how you demonstrate the following qualities:

• when you have worked in a team environment creating successful outcomes
• used your communication skills through work, university or other areas to clearly explain a situation or task
• ability to solve a problem or problems in a workplace, university or other areas you have experienced
• open to regional rotation within the Main Roads Graduate Program

Please ensure your cover letter does not exceed two (2) pages.

Successful applicants will need to complete a pre-employment medical assessment and national police clearance prior to appointment.
