Afternoon Shift Supervisor 2IC National Glass | Monday – Friday | 2:00pm – 10:00pm
National Glass is looking for an experienced and motivated Afternoon Shift Supervisor 2IC to join our team and play a key role in leading our afternoon shift operations. This is an exciting opportunity for a people-focused leader who enjoys working with a team, building capability and creating a positive, safe and productive workplace.
We are looking for someone with proven leadership experience who can lead by example, hold people accountable and support the team to achieve strong safety, quality and production outcomes.
About the Role
Working Monday to Friday, 2:00pm – 10:00pm, you will support the Afternoon Shift Supervisor and wider management team in the day-to-day running of the site.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Lead, coach and support team members to build a positive and high-performing team culture.
Provide visible leadership across safety, quality and operational performance.
Conduct toolbox talks, pre-starts and shift handovers, ensuring key information is communicated effectively.
Monitor production activities and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
Ensure team members follow relevant SOPs, SWMS, safety procedures and PPE requirements.
Identify and address workplace hazards, incidents and safety concerns, including ensuring appropriate reporting and follow-up.
Support the training, onboarding and development of team members, ensuring employees are competent and appropriately authorised for their roles.
Monitor product quality and ensure customer requirements and applicable Australian Standards are met.
Work closely with Supervisors, Operators and Management to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and reduce defects and waste.
Maintain strong housekeeping standards and ensure the workplace remains safe, organised and productive.
Support emergency response, incident investigations, audits and other site safety requirements as required.
What We're Looking For
The most important thing we are looking for is strong people leadership experience.
You will ideally have:
Proven experience leading and supervising a team, preferably within a manufacturing, production or industrial environment.
A genuine passion for people leadership, coaching and team development.
The confidence to have difficult conversations, provide feedback and hold team members accountable.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A proactive approach to safety and workplace wellbeing.
The ability to remain calm, organised and decisive in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to quality and operational standards.
The ability to work collaboratively with management and other departments.
Experience in glass manufacturing, processing or a similar production environment will be highly regarded, but is not essential for the right leader.
What We Offer
Monday – Friday | 2:00pm – 10:00pm
$35 – $38 per hour + 28% afternoon shift loading, dependent on experience
$150 per week Supervisor Allowance
5 weeks annual leave per year
