ABOUT THE ROLE 

Join us as a Mining Supervisor (Deputy) on a 2-year Fixed Term Contract at our Dendrobium Coal Mine, located near the vibrant coastal city of Wollongong, just 75 km south of Sydney.

As a Deputy, you’ll play a critical role in leading crews, ensuring safety, and maintaining compliance across our underground operation. You’ll help drive safe production outcomes while contributing to a culture of care, accountability, and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supervising underground teams and inspecting work areas to uphold statutory compliance

• Ensuring safe work execution and escalating unresolved safety or compliance issues

• Managing shift plans, handovers, and reporting to ensure accuracy and continuity

• Monitoring ventilation, equipment condition, and environmental hazards

• Leading daily risk assessments, crew briefings, and supporting investigations

• Collaborating with leadership and contributing to continuous improvement

ABOUT YOU 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Proven experience supervising underground coal mining crews

• Strong knowledge of mining legislation, safety systems, and compliance processes

• A confident, calm leadership style with the ability to influence at all levels

• A hands-on approach to driving performance and addressing challenges

• Commitment to upholding safety standards and company values

To be considered for this role, you will ideally have:

• Deputy Mining Supervisor qualification (NSW practising certificate)

• Generic Underground Induction

• Current valid Driver’s Licence

• Underground coal competencies/appointments (desirable)

• Solid understanding of underground coal mining operations and practices
