Senior Health & Safety Advisor

The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Health and Safety Advisor to join our Energy & Utilities team based in Chatswood, NSW.

Working within a Business Partner model, you will provide expert advice, coaching and mentoring across all aspects of health, safety, wellbeing, environment and sustainability. You will support the implementation of The Downer Standard, drive continuous improvement initiatives and assist operational teams in strengthening safety ownership and capability.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting and mentoring operational teams to strengthen Zero Harm culture and performanceLeading and supporting incident investigations and injury management activitiesProviding technical risk management guidance and supporting the development of risk controlsSupporting compliance, reporting and governance activities within Zero Harm systemsBuilding strong stakeholder relationships and influencing positive safety outcomes across the businessParticipating in critical risk programs and continuous improvement initiatives

What we're looking for

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Health and SafetyMinimum five years experience in a Health, Safety and Environment role within a high risk industryStrong understanding of relevant health and safety legislation and regulatory requirementsExperience conducting audits, investigations and corrective action managementDemonstrated capability in risk management, injury management and workers compensation processesStrong communication, stakeholder engagement, coaching and influencing skillsICAM investigation training, internal auditing qualifications and training delivery experience will be highly regardedCurrent driver's licence and willingness to travel as required
