Senior Practitioner - Family Connect & Support

• Permanent Full Time position based on Wonnarua Country at our East Maitland site
• $105k - $110k+ Super + Salary Packaging
• Flexible hybrid working with up to 2 days WFH per week; part-time arrangements may be considered

Your Opportunity

As a Senior Practitioner in our Family Connect and Support program, you will play a key role in supporting children, young people and families from our East Maitland site on Wonnarua Country. Referrals are received from across the Hunter region, so travel will be required to support families and strengthen connections with local services and communities. This role brings together your strong case work experience, child and family practice knowledge and strengths-based approach to support families before challenges escalate to crisis point. You will take on more complex family cases, provide mentoring and practice guidance to staff within the program, and help build team capability through reflective, evidence-informed practice.

How You Will Contribute

• Take on more complex family cases, completing assessments, managing risk and developing goal-focused support plans.
• Mentor staff within the program, providing practice guidance, case planning support and reflective practice.
• Connect families with appropriate services and work collaboratively with community, health, education and government partners.
• Respond to referrals from across the Hunter region, travelling as required to support families and community-based engagement.
• Maintain accurate documentation and contribute to continuous practice improvement across the team.

Your Skills and Experience

You will be degree qualified in Social Work, Psychology, Social Science, Early Childhood, Early Childhood Education or another relevant human services discipline, with several years’ experience in case work, case management or child and family practice.

• Extensive experience working with children, young people and families experiencing vulnerability, risk or complex needs.
• Strong understanding of child protection, trauma, family violence, mental health and alcohol and other drug impacts on families.
• Ability to complete assessments, manage risk and develop practical, strengths-based support plans.
• Confidence mentoring staff, facilitating practice development through reflective practice, practice sessions and group supervision, while building strong relationships with families and stakeholders.
• Current NSW driver’s licence, willingness to travel across the Hunter and Central Coast region, and a current NSW Working with Children Check.
